My husband and I got to sit down together, and watch the movie recently on early release. I thought it was put together really well. You got to know what the family was about, prior to the movie’s actual topic. Seeing how that sweet kid was so strong and survived that long, was amazing. My Navajo County Search and Rescue team is actually out on a search right now, for a missing mid-70’s woman in our mountain area. Tomorrow will be day number 5 of our search and still no signs. This movie actually gave me hope that there’s a chance, that she could still be found. I was talking about it with one of the local fire captains, and he said “well, the movie was about a young kid.” One of the only SAR Coordinator’s there, said “well, not so fast.” He said that his team had been on a search awhile back for a 74 year old woman in their area. Their police chief decided to drive down some road that hadn’t been searched. He got out of his vehicle, and walked down a trail, and the woman came out walking toward him. This was 11.5 DAYS after she was reported missing. Can you believe that?
This movie gave me hope! Please lift up all of the search teams who put their own lives on the line, as volunteers, to try to bring happiness or closure to the families of missing people. I, myself, never want to be lost on a mountain, or anywhere else, but this story really touched my husband and my heart! I would definitely recommend it!
